first4playgrounds have a range of literacy playground markings designed to develop literacy and alphabet learning through play. Our colourful a-z snakes, caterpillars and dragons are ideal for nursery key stage 1 upwards and develop  letter recognition and alphabet learning. Alphabet games can be played at playtimes and also part of school outdoor teaching programme.

We also have alphabet markings that help children with understanding the way letters are written on the page and handwriting skills. The different letters are colour coded to show the letters in the alphabet that are written above the line, on the line and above and below the line. The vowels are also shown.

Our phonemes playground markings supports the current literacy curriculum for primary ks1 upwards. Learning phonemes helps children understand  the way words sound in language and how they  are constructed. A phoneme is a "single unit of sound ", There are 44 in the english language, each one representing a different sound a person can make. Our phonemes table is aimed at ks1 primary school upwards.
